Care Guide
At Light of Soul, we want you to enjoy your candles and eco resin products for as long as possible. Proper care ensures the longevity, safety, and optimal performance of each item. Below, you’ll find detailed care instructions for our pillar candles, jar candles, wax melts, and eco resin products to help you get the most out of your handcrafted items.
Pillar Candles
First Burn: Let your candle burn for at least 2-3 hours on the first burn to allow the wax to melt evenly across the surface. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn throughout its life.
Trim the Wick: Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼ inch (6 mm) to avoid excessive smoke and uneven burning.
Burn on a Heat-Resistant Surface: Always place your pillar candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface to avoid damage from any melting wax.
Avoid Drafts: Keep the candle away from drafts, vents, or fans, as this can cause uneven burning and sooting.
Extinguish Safely: Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame instead of blowing it out to prevent splattering wax and smoking.
Jar Candles
First Burn: Allow the candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt evenly across the entire surface (approximately 3-4 hours), especially on the first burn, to prevent tunneling.
Trim the Wick: Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch (6 mm) before each burn to avoid soot and ensure a clean, even burn.
Burn Time: For best results, burn your jar candle for 3-4 hours at a time. Avoid burning for longer than 4 hours to prevent the jar from getting too hot.
Storage: Store your jar candle in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and fragrance loss.
Discontinue Use: Stop burning the candle when about ½ inch (12 mm) of wax remains at the bottom to avoid overheating the jar.
Soy Wax Melts
Using Wax Melts: Place one or two wax melts in the dish of your wax warmer. The heat will slowly melt the wax, releasing its fragrance.
Replacing Wax Melts: Once the scent has faded, turn off the warmer and allow the wax to cool and harden. Remove the used wax and replace it with fresh wax melts.
Avoid Overfilling: Don’t overfill your wax warmer, as this can cause spills or messes once the wax melts.
Cleaning Your Warmer: Regularly clean your wax warmer by removing any leftover wax and wiping the dish with a soft cloth.
Eco Resin Products
(Including trays, candle holders, and coasters)
Cleaning: Clean your eco resin products with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that can scratch the surface.
Avoid Prolonged Heat Exposure: Although eco resin is heat-resistant, avoid placing products in direct sunlight or near high heat for extended periods, as it may cause slight warping or discoloration.
Handling: Handle your eco resin items gently to avoid accidental chips or cracks, especially with intricate designs.
Water Resistance: Eco resin is water-resistant, but avoid soaking or submerging the items for extended periods to prevent any potential damage.
Use with Candles: If using eco resin trays or holders with candles, always use a heat-resistant mat or barrier to protect the resin from direct heat.
Safety Tips for All Candles
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Always burn candles in a well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials.
